Customers of a large west coast pipe manufacturer had rejected a large order of cement mortar lined pipe due to improper surface preparation of the pipe wall.
The manufacturer, in an attempt to salvage the steel pipe, was contemplating removal of the 1/2" liner with jackhammers. The high probability of inflicting damage to the interior pipe wall compelled the company to contact Genesis.
Genesis quickly designed and shipped a special high pressure cleaning system designed to safely emulsify the mortar liner so that surface preparation and liner installation could be repeated. During cleaning it was discovered that following a single straight cleaning pass sufficient tension was relieved in the liner to allow the remainder of the mortar to simply fall of as the pipe was rolled.
